How Serra Negra Decaf is Processed
Our Brazilian Serra Negra Mountain WAter decaf is a natural pulped process. That means they remove the cherry skin and a portion of the coffee cherry’s fruit mucilage to give it a wonderful flavor and mouthfeel. They coffee beans are then depupled and dried in that small amount of mucilage for up to two weeks on raised patios. From there, the beans go to a facility called Descamex. The beans are soaked in a water solution which captures the caffeine modules and allows you to enjoy the great taste of coffee, without the caffeine and without any chemicals to make it all happen!
