Tasting Notes for Colombia Cundinamarca Geisha Anatoli

Medium bodied and bright, expect lots of fruit flavors and depth with this coffee. Right up front, look for fruity sweetness that’s similar to blueberry. Along with it, you’ll likely pick up a hint of jasmine and lime too that sits a touch higher as you taste the coffee. But before you even start brewing, the aroma emanating from the bag is going to draw you in. It’s love before first sight!

They naturally process this coffee in Colombia. That precessing method means rather than washing some of the flavor away during processing, the mucus remains on the cherry. This method typically means the depth and complexity of the bean’s flavors run a bit wild on your palate.

About Cundinamarca Geisha’s Producers

A married couple in Colombia are the brains and braun behind these wonderful beans.

Orlando Ospina is an agronomist who specialized in non-traditional coffee processing. He dreamed of someday having his own farm along with his wife Emilcen Sanchez. They cultivate Geisha, Mokka Natural, Tipica Honey and Sidra Bourbon Honey varieties. To Cup of Excellence, Emilcen explained her husband is in charge of preparing the trees for each harvest and process since each variety they produce has a special process designed by them. Today they grow Mokka, Gesha, Castillo, Typica and Bourbon and in the future the next project is establishing a micro washed station for better control of the processes.

Coffee aficionados well-regard all of their varieties. In fact, the couple has been honored for quality by the Alliance for Coffee Excellence.

About La Mesa, Cundinamarca

The Ospina Farm is located near the city of La Mesa in the Colombia’s Cundinamarca department. The area is about 50 miles west of Bogota. The Ospina farm grows the Geisha Anatoli beans at an altitude of about 5500 feet above sea level. That high altitude limits some of the things that can introduce bitterness. That’s just one more factor that helps make this coffee is so extraordinary!
