A medium-bodied micro-lot decaf that offers up plenty of intrigue without the caffeine.
Decaf Colombia Valle de Cauca Tasting Notes
Sitting on top of your palate when drinking this decaf, you’re going to enjoy the light caramel notes that offer a tinge of sweetness. Deeper into the cup and on your palate, there’s more here though. Hazelnut notes, dried cherry and maybe even a tinge of red apple will give you something to get excited about.
This coffee is a microlot in a very true sense of the word. Several farmers contributed to the crop that makes up our Valle de Cauca with the average farm size coming in at three hectares on average (less than 8 acres!)
How Is This Coffee Decaffeinated?
The produced decaffeinated our Colombian Valle de Cauca coffee in Colombia using ethyl acetate. This is an organic compound that you might’ve heard of, it’s also used in wine. Using ethyl acetate, they remove 97% of the caffeine from the beans. This process leaves behind all the great depth the coffee beans offer — but can also leave a hint of sweetness as well. So, now you know where this one gets its “sugarcane” name.
