About Nariño’s Juanambu Canyon
If you’ve been around good coffee for long, odds are good you know of Colombia’s Nariño area. It’s a small department bordering Ecuador and the Pacific Ocean. It delivers some of the highest-grown coffee in the world every year. Put simply, Nariño is one of the best places in the world for slow coffee maturation which leads to some of the best cups of coffee you’ll find.
Our Nariño microlot is made up of coffee from about 123 small landholders near the towns of Buesaco and Arboleda Berruecos. That area is about 5600 feet to 7200 feet above sea level. There, farmers livelihoods depend upon agriculture. If their coffee doesn’t thrive, the families don’t survive. As you can imagine, that’s a high pressure game that has led to continuous improvement of the land and farming practices. You get to reap the rewards with a wonderful coffee.
